Wedding DIY - Strawberry Dessert Table - Part 2

The tutorial Asma shared yesterday got me thinking. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a subtle strawberry themed wedding in the summer? A gorgeous London wedding with a nod to Wimbledon, strawberry picking, homemade jams and the ever-so-simple strawberries and cream theme.

Wedding Chicks have a whole host of strawberry themed wedding items over on their blog - some of which I've shared below. Pinterest was just as inspirational. (Click the link to see all of the strawberry love!) If it's a theme you're seriously considering, check out Asma's rich chocolate cake, filled with strawberry Italian meringue buttercream and covered in strawberry ganache:

See the tutorial for making the ganache over on Asma's blog.
As promised, here's part two of Asma's dessert table tutorial. Today she will be sharing her step-by-step instructions for making those cute little strawberries you see on the tiered cake above. Combine the flowers from yesterday's tutorial and the strawberries from today and you'll have jazzed up your 'blank' cake in no time! Perfect details for a summer Wedding cake.

Oh...and fear not! This is not the last tutorial. Next week I have the recipe and 'how-to' for those gorgeous strawberry and apple cupcakes. Yum!

Over to Asma again for the 'Make It Yourself' strawberry action!

If you want to add some additional detail you can cut out small leaf shapes with a cutter. Asma used a small rose leaf plunger and then dusted with green petal dust to bring out the colour. She suggests that you leave your strawberries and petals to dry overnight and assemble them on to your cake as required.

There you have it - a simple way to dress up a plain white cake. Easy to put together and cost effective too. As I mentioned in the previous post, there are so many different ways you could adapt this DIY for your own wedding theme - not just a strawberry based one.

Are you planning to decorate your own wedding cake? Are you going to have a go with this tutorial? Let us know if you do as we'd love to feature a couple of DIY brides here on A Little London Wedding. Contact me by clicking the little envelope up at the top.

Much Love,

Samantha x x
